Churches & worship facilities often require sound absorbing panels to lower noise levels & eliminate echoes
Acoustic wall tiles and or acoustic ceiling tiles make churches quieter and improve overall acoustic problems
Churches and places of worship are well known for their echo problems and loud noise levels. Melfoam Acoustics offers soundproofing acoustic solutions that will control these problems.
The two main products that we install into churches is noise absorbing acoustic ceiling tiles or echo absorbing acoustic wall tiles.
The installation of these products will improve the will make it very easy for everybody to hear spoken words and conversations. It will also enable the use of music or a PA address system to be used without the associated problems with echoes.

Keeping churches quite and free from echoes
Traditionally, churches and many places of worship are designed with architectural elements that look impressive, but creates excessive reverberation times which results in the creation of echoes. High arched ceilings, stone walls and floors, hard wooden furniture and large glass windows create are the perfect elements that enable sound to bounce off multiple surfaces.
It is these hard surface architectural features that create multiple sound reflections that are the cause of loud noises and echoes.
The solution to fixing these acoustic solutions it to introduce some soft, sound absorbing materials to the walls or ceiling that will stop the sound from bouncing around the room.

Acoustic wall tiles or Acoustic ceiling tiles absorb sound and stop sound reflecting off hard surfaces.
Acoustic wall tiles and acoustic ceiling tiles are great at eliminating echoes because they absorb the sound energy that is reflecting around the room that is the cause of all the acoustic problems.
Acoustic wall tiles or acoustic ceiling tiles are unobtrusive, and can be easily installed selectively around the room.
Where more powerful acoustic insulation is required, we recommend Acoustic Baffles that hang from the ceiling. Acoustic baffles have the advantage over acoustic wall tiles and acoustic ceiling tiles in that both sides of the foam are exposed so this means there is twice the amount of sound absorbing surface exposed to soak up all the excess sound energy in the room.
Acoustic wall tiles or acoustic ceiling tiles are the perfect soundproofing acoustic solution can be supplied in any colour so that they blend into the background and go unnoticed by the members of the church.

Sound Absorbing Panels fitted to the ceiling of the Wollongong Christian Reformed Church
We recently received a phone call from the Wollongong Christian Reformed Church, just south of Sydney. They were having acoustic problems with echoes and excessive noise when they we holding their sermons.
They engaged with one of the acoustic engineers from a local university who determined that they required to place a 50% coverage of sound absorbing panels onto the ceiling of the room.
Below are two pictures of the affected room. The picture on the left is before the sound absorbing panels were installed and the picture on the right shows the acoustic foam fitted to the ceiling.
The final outcome was the church was very happy with the result of the echoes being eliminated and the room no longer becoming noisy during times of busy activity.
