Sound Absorption Curves
In order to control noise levels & eliminate echoes from a room, it is necessary to install some form of sound absorption material that can remove the excess sound energy.
Sound absorption panels or sound absorption are the perfect solution for improving a room’s acoustics.
Sound absorption panels or sound absorption foam are highly effective at absorbing sounds that are bouncing off highly reflective hard surfaces in room. Large rooms that have lots of glass, stone bench tops, wooden or concrete floors and a lack of curtains or blinds typically suffer from loud noise or echoes. By placing some form of sound absorption foam onto the ceiling or walls the sound reflections in the room will be stopped and the acoustics of the room will be bought under control.
Sound absorption panels eliminate echoes in rooms
All our sound absorption panels are produced from an open cell foam that does not burn.
When the unwanted noise that is bouncing around a room hits one of these sound absorption materials, it is absorbed. This absorbed energy causes the fibers of the panel to vibrate and thus the noise or sound energy is dissipated as heat energy.
The curves above show that when the sound absorption panel approaches 40 mm in thickness or greater, it is able to absorb more than 80% of the sound energy in a room that is above 500 Hz.
Most of the unwanted noise generated in restaurants, schools, homes, offices, call centres and gyms is above this 500 Hz range and this is the sound range at which these panels are most effective.
All Melfoam Acoustic products are produced from highly fire resistant materials.
Melfoam Acoustics is passionate about providing it customers with highly effective sound absorption materials for treating their noise or sound problems.

Example of a recent installation
One of our most recent and highly successful jobs was the installation of our sound absorption panels into the St Ali Cafe at Carlton Nth, May 2013. These acoustic foam panels were coloured matched so that they would blend in with the ceiling.
After the installation we received a huge amount of positive feed back as to how successful these sound absorption foam panels had been in lowering the overall noise level, especially on weekends when the cafe is busiest.
Some of the comments are the staff can now hear themselves think and they do not go home with their ears ringing from excessive exposure to high noise levels.
Also the feed back from customers has been very positive and they are enjoying their time more in the restaurant being able to hear their friends speaking to them instead of being worried about excessive noise in the restaurant.
