The Knox Central Primary School in Melbourne needed to find a sound absorbing material to place on the ceiling of their music room. They selected our sound absorbing foam panels because they are white in colour and have excellent fire resistance.
Melfoam Acoustics was recently contacted by the Principal from the "Knox Central Primary School" in Melbourne. The school required some type of sound absorbing material that could be fitted to the ceiling.
This music room was suffering from a very long reverberation time which was causing echo problems in the room. Teaching rooms that have long reverberation times usually achieve poor learning outcomes for the students. In a music room with a hard wooden floor, high ceiling, lots of musical instruments and young children, the music teacher requested the Principal fix the poor acoustic problems.
On being contacted, Melfoam Acoustics recommended that the ceiling be covered with our sound absorbing foam at a coverage rate of 50%.
After the installation was complete we received a phone call from the school informing us that their music room was now free of acoustic problems and that the music teacher was very happy with her new teaching environment.
Sound Absorbing Foam is a great solution for improving the acoustics of any music room.
Note
A Sound Absorbing Material is any material that is able to absorb as much sound energy as possible, converting it into heat so that this energy does not continue to bounce around the room causing acoustic problems. What gives acoustic foam its great ability to absorb sound energy is its open cell structure which acts as a sponge to any sound energy that is present in a room.
