Autism affects the way individuals are able to learn & interact with other people. Lowering noise levels through the use of acoustic foam panels or sound absorption panels may aid learning & social interaction.

Autism is a condition that affects the way a child or adult learns and interacts with other people. People with autism can find the world they live in very frightening as a result of sensory overload. Today, 1 in 110 individuals is diagnosed with autism.
For a normal person sensory integration with one’s environment occurs naturally, our brains are able to filter out sensory information such as unwanted sounds and only relevant information is relayed to our conscious minds. Children & adults with autism have severe problems in filtering sensory information, as a result their sensory system simply lets too much information flow to the brain. This results in problems with

Supply and Installation of Acoustic Ceilings and Acoustic Wall Panels using a novel pricing model
Melfoam Acoustic and the Eastern Ranges School did not wish to engage an acoustic engineering company who would instruct us on the correct amount of sound absorption panels to apply to the ceiling and walls in order to get the correct reverberation times which would result in lower noise levels and an improvement in speech intelligibility which would enable the pool to be used.
Melfoam Acoustic gave the school a fixed price quote for an outcome. The outcome that was agreed upon was enough acoustic foam panels would be installed to make the room usable. It was a very good deal for the school because we had to double the amount of acoustic panels that we quoted to fit in order to get the desired outcome.
At the end of the day the school received a fully functioning swimming pool that could be used everyday by the students and Melfoam Acoustics gained experience in how to improve the environment in which children with autism have to operate in through the installation of our sound absorption panels.

Sound Absorption Panels were used to create an acoustic ceiling for the gym or activity room used by children with autism
The Eastern Ranges School was so happy with the outcome they obtained by installing acoustic foam panels into their swimming pool, they decided that they wanted an acoustic ceiling installed into the activity room which also suffered from a long reverberation times which lead to terrible echoes and hence made it very uncomfortable for the students to operate and play in.
