Sound Absorbing vs Sound Transmission
Soundproofing panels & soundproofing foam will not stop the transmission of sound through walls, ceilings, doors or windows. All our soundproofing products are sound absorbers, which prevents the occurrence of rooms becoming noisy or affected by echoes.
Not all rooms require a short reverberation time
Not all rooms require a short reverberation time. Some rooms need to have their acoustic behaviour adjusted such as venues for live music. If the reverberation time is too low in a room then the music will sound dead. A room with a short reverberation time is often described by musicians as being acoustically dead and they do not want to perform in such venues. So it is important that these types of room have a longer reverb time than what would be experienced in a teaching or learning environment.
Managing reverberation times can enhance the music experience. Some level of reverberation time adds to the fullness of tone, helps blend sounds and enhances the richness of all the music frequencies.
